Anti-Hazing

The Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., has a zero tolerance policy for hazing. It is our duty to stress the importance of this issue and to ensure that all members and non-member(s) affiliated with the Annapolis Alumni Chapter comply with the Fraternity’s anti hazing policy. Any member or non-member affiliated with Annapolis Alumni that does not adhere to this policy that is specifically outlined in the Fraternity’s Code of Conduct may suffer severe consequences by the Fraternity as well as state or local law enforcement.

Moreover, it is the goal of the Fraternity to see that all individuals committing acts of hazing and other unlawful and Prohibited Acts are punished consistent with due process and the concept of proportionality to the full extent of the rules of the fraternity, college and the criminal law. The Fraternity does not countenance either acts of physical aggression by members or the willing submission to the same by prospective members or candidates for membership. Prospective members, candidates and other members of the public are themselves uniquely situated to reject, report and decline to participate in any pledging or hazing activity.

Men interested in joining the Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter shall not be subjected to hazing, engage in hazing, or condone hazing. Failure to report acts of hazing of any kind not only undermine the goals and objectives of the Fraternity but jeopardizes the entire intake process.

Membership Training Academy

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. membership aspirants

The Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter takes great pride in uniting college educated men in a bond of Fraternity. We are a diverse chapter whose sole purpose is to do the business of Kappa. We are known as the “Best Little Chapter in the East” because of our integrity, patriotism, service, dedication, and character. Membership into our chapter is welcomed but not a right. Men who solemnly understand our Fraternity Objectives, Our Values, and Our Purpose but also possess qualities such as Commitment, Maturity, Dedication, and Character are encouraged to seek membership.

Membership is a solemn commitment. To this Fraternity, the maker of the commitment becomes synonymous with the commitment itself. Membership in Kappa Alpha Psi is a lifelong dedication to the ideas and lofty purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi, which considers for membership only those aspirants whose personal, social and academic qualifications are acceptable to both the Chapter and Fraternity. Expectations concerning maturity and dedication are made upon new members and established members alike.

Maturity is more than simply reaching a certain age. Maturity to us means acceptance of reality, the ability to sacrifice and set goals, consideration of others, incisive judgment, emotional balance, development of social skills, intellectual competence, and moral rectitude. We expect our members to be mature.
Dedication means putting those characteristics of maturity into a lifelong program of action to advance the goals and purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi. We expect our members to be dedicated.

But do not let personal goals supersede those of the Fraternity. A person who feels he would do the Fraternity a favor by joining is not worthy of membership. No one who holds himself superior to the Brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Psi is worthy of this distinction.

Kappa Alpha Psi is not interested in the simple accumulation of members and chapters. Its emphasis, however, is in the quality and integrity of its membership. Membership quality manifests itself through an intangible element of brotherhood we call "that Good Old Kappa Spirit."
